The Hertfordshire branch of the British Horse Society announces that the Royal Veterinary College is staging a series of lectures designed to give the newest information on treatment and care for a variety of common horse diseases and injuries. Ideal for horse owners and anyone interested in horse welfare they will also be extremely valuable for students studying for BHS exams.

POOR PERFORMANCE - could it be RESPIRATORY disease HEART problems or MUSCLE disease
Poor performance in riding horses, particularly those used for competition, can be subtle and frustrating. This informative talk will discuss possible causes of poor performance and describe the latest research from specialists in surgery and medicine.
There will also be discussion to help riders and owners recognise the signs and help manage these conditions in their horses. Questions from the audience are welcomed so do have yours ready!

Kirsty Manson and Lyndsay Black are trying to raise funds by participating in a sponsored ride taking place from the 24th August in Iceland for 5 days (8 hours a day on horseback) on the famous icelandic ponies to help raise funds for The British Horse Society.
Prompted by events in Buckinghamshire earlier this year, The BHS stepped in to help with the RSPCA, Thames Valley Police, ILHP and Redwings Animal Sanctuary in rescuing horses, ponies and donkeys from a field in Amersham
